**How to Dress Boho Chic Over 50**
Boho chic is a fashion trend that started in the 1960s and 70s. Bohemian style is characterized by its free-spirited and relaxed vibe. It features flowing fabrics, bold prints, and layered accessories. It's a perfect look for a mature woman who values comfort, versatility, and trend-worthy looks that will score compliments from work to the grocery store. This article shares tips on dressing boho chic over 50.
**Invest in Quality Pieces**
It makes a difference whether your clothes are built to last, and this is how to make it chic when it comes to boho. Opt for natural fabrics. Cotton, linen, and silk provide a wholesome look representing the high-quality nature of the clothing you've chosen to express yourself with. These fabrics look well-made, classic, more comfortable, and longer lasting. Essential colors are black, white, off-white, navy, or beige. These staple solids provide the backbone of the ideal boho-chic wardrobe. Our boho-quality staples include classy linen shirts for women. Cotton dresses are also on our list of perfect additions to the closet. Not only are they breathable and flowing, but they're versatile for all kinds of outings. These fun and flexible fabrics are a comfy way to spend your days.
**Neutral Colors**
There's a delicate balance in the colors you choose for a boho look; stick to a neutral color palette and add on from there. The neutral colors mentioned provide a flattering, versatile base for your wardrobe to mix and match your pieces. Throw in a pair of ultra-comfy high waisted shorts that offer a flexible and flattering fit. A sweet, flowy blouse will help you look effortless, as well.
**Provide Pops of Color with Accessories**
A few neutral pieces that provide a versatile base for your 'fits will lend an opportunity for a few accessories perfect for giving that pop of color. Play with scarves, jewelry, and handbags with bright colors and bold prints that contribute to the overall look.
**Layers**
Layers are not only essential for chillier days but for providing dimension to your looks. Cover the back of your neck to avoid a chill with a cardigan sweater which is not only cozy and cute but also fashion-forward. Different pieces can be used in a few different outfits with this tactic, as each piece can provide something different depending on what you match it with.
**Flowy Silhouettes**
Why else would we be leaning in so hard to the boho look other than it's among the most comfortable ways to look put-together? Flowy silhouettes allow for optimum ease of movement while giving off the carefree look that boho does so well. Play with a few different styles of maxi dresses to introduce flowy components into your collection of chic looks.
**Combine Patterns and Textures**
Combining prints like stripes, paisleys, and florals in boho chic is a go as long as the color palettes are agreeable. Or, try subtly mixing fabrics like suede, leather, lace, and silk. With the neutral base, it will be easy to select a few accessories that go with your initial pieces.
**Make a Statement**
With your neutral bases and subtle mix of fabrics and textures, complete the look with a fashion piece like a bold set of earrings, an accent vest, an exciting jacket, or a striking necklace. As the outfit's centerpiece, this item will likely get lots of compliments. Keep accessory pieces in canvas storage bins for easy access to a variety of options.
**Pick the Ideal Shoe**
The shoes you pair with your 'fit will have a lot to do with the day's activities. If you have a casual day planned, you can opt for a cute canvas tennis shoe that will keep your feet breezy and relaxed. Flat sandals and ankle boots can also be a great addition.
**Build Yourself Up**
With any outfit, pulling it off has a lot to do with how you feel and the confidence you radiate. There's no one but you who can bring that extra spark to your look that can only come from within. If you find yourself struggling with self-confidence (as we all do from time to time), encourage yourself as you would a good friend. We recommend you leave notes on the mirror with positive affirmations or say three nice things to yourself out loud. Keep a gratitude journal and push yourself to write a few things a day so that on harder days, you can look back and find positives.
**Enjoy the Comfort and Versatility of Boho Chic**
Dressing boho chic is an excellent style for women in their 50s to embrace, as it covers a lot of the essentials. Style, comfort, and versatility are all provided to the wearer. As you can see, the benefits of boho chic are many.
**BRA SUPPORT AFTER MENOPAUSE**
After menopause, women's bodies go through numerous changes. For those of us with a larger bra size, bralettes are the most comfortable to wear.
After a 'certain age', comfort becomes a very real priority. Gone are the days of constant underwire and 5 inch heels.
A bralette is one of the best alternatives to bras for older women. They are incredibly lightweight and offer the coverage you're looking for without constricting bands and materials. Think of a bralette like an undershirt, but fitted to your breasts and focused on your bust.
**Embrace** the changes, love your body and remember: being alive and pain-free is a blessing.

Cookie with a shattered leg, day 2 post-surgery - All tips towards her care get a free gift.
She went for her surgery on Friday, is in recovery at home, and is still full of life. She's the cutest little purr box, doing better every day, and has a lot of energy for someone who just went through a big operation. She's a tough one like her mamma haha. Still a long way from being fully healed but we'll take it day by day.
Thank you to everyone for the tips, support, and love. I really appreciate it more than I can express sometimes.
Don't forget to say Hi in the DMs πππ
**KITTEN WITH SHATTERED LEG UPDATE: ALL TIPS TOWARDS HER CARE GET A FREE GIFT**
**Good news and bad news re the kitty- who is now in surgery:**
The break was far worse than thought. That bone should be behind the kneecap. There was another picture with more shatters.
They will pull muscles and put pins in. It is quite costly, so your tips really help to defray the costs. If you haven't followed along, someone threw her at my property from a moving car and shattered the leg 4 days ago. She is 5 weeks-ish. I found her yowling in a flower pot.
They said this is the youngest animal they have ever had to perform surgery on!!
She has a 6-7 week recovery and needs to be crated.
No pain meds- too yung, poor baby
The doctor was French Canadian and probably in his 80s and spoke French to me. He was very sweet also, very honest.
He wonβt know for sure if they can fix it, but he feels pretty confident. He says her bones are like butter.
I pick her up tonight
**STRESS AND GRAY HAIR**
A new study shows that stress really can give you gray hair. Researchers found that the body's fight-or-flight response plays a key role in turning hair gray. Your hair color is determined by pigment-producing cells called melanocytes.

Cookie the 5-week-old kitten, was thrown from a moving vehicle into my property and found with a shattered leg in a FLOWER POT 2 days ago- she goes to have surgery on Friday near Chicago.
Thank you to everyone who tipped and sent donations towards her recovery.
I don't know yet whether they will fix it or amputate it, but it is going to cost 2800 USD.
I appreciate all of you who contributed and those who sent well wishes.
Have a happy and safe 4th of July.
I'm exhausted because the fireworks freaked my dogs out all night.
**EVERYONE WHO TIPS UNDER THIS POST WILL GET A FREE GIFT- HAVE TO RAISE MONEY FOR VETERINARY COSTS**
Found a 5-week old kitten last night in a flower pot in my backyard.
The poor thing is a dilute calico female- probably a Bengal mix- a bit over 5 weeks old. Noticed that she had an injured paw when I flea bathed her.
I took her to the vet this morning and they say it is a full shattered fracture.
Three options:
It could spontaneously heal
It could be amputated
It could require 2k dollar surgery.
I have never dealt with anything like this before- what would *you* do?
She is human-friendly, so some person must have dumped her near my home.
I named her Cookie, because she looks like my cat Cake's toy cat he carries around with the same name.
Incidentally, it was also his 3rd birthday yesterday.
Planted a Weeping Katsura tree yesterday and then had a late night- photo of tree and me this morning π
The tree is looking much less messy than I am.
**Cultural Significance**
Katsura Tree is instrumental in Asian folklore and is incorporated in many ancient Chinese and Japanese legends, including an explanation for the shadow on the moon. Japanese folklore presents Katsura Tree as the means by which gods descended from the heavens and symbolized the joining of earth and sky. In another Japanese legend, a man being punished by the gods was sentenced to cut down a giant Katsura Tree on the moon. It is said that the shadow of the moon is the result of the shade of the magic Katsura Tree, which cannot be cut down. It continually grows back and the man is trapped on the moon forever.
Though katsura is exotic in the USA (it's native to Japan and China), it has been planted as an ornamental species for over a century in the United States without showing any potential to become invasive.
